Vintage Star Wars Collectables.

Have you seen how much the vintage Star Wars figures go for?

I am pretty sure that most would happily have to sacrifice their right arm for some of those figures.
For those whose early childhood was dominated by the original trilogy, playing with those figures with friends in the backyard is a purely happy memory.
I myself lost a couple of storm troopers, buried under the muddy soil of a good friends garden feature. Whether or not the mud was a good substitution for that of the forest moon of Endor?
- I don't know. But at the age I was then, authenticity was never going to be a pressing concern.

When I looked through the value of some of the Vintage Star Wars Collectables and saw their prices a good forty years later- I was genuinely shocked. There has always been a thriving market for vintage Star Wars collectables in mint condition. But I was really surprised by how much the worth of  Vintage Star Wars Figures had increased over time.

Of course those rare figures or those boxed and in mint condition come at a premium price. To the ordinary collector or someone wishing to recapture something from their childhood, most people will be priced right out of the market.
Those figures are scouted out by expert and professional collectors, who use an extensive list of contacts to sniff out those once in a lifetime finds for a huge fee.

Here are a couple of the figures I used to have and what they are worth now!

1) Chewbacca.
Chewbacca 1977 Figure.

This unmistakable sidekick to Han Solo is a personal favourite of mine and nearly all my school friends had one of these figures. If you were to get one of these in mint condition, you will be looking at spending a sizeable amount of cash.

Finding Chewbacca on a bidding site such as eBay. is quite common and if you are lucky you can get a good condition vintage yet not boxed Wookie for about £10/20.
That said, some of the better quality versions of the toy are usually about £30-50.

2) Darth Vader.

A 1977 Vintage Darth Vader.

This Sith Lord and possibly the baddest fallen Jedi in the universe, was a figure that everyone had to have. Especially if you wanted to recreate the battle between Darth Vader and Obi Wan Kenobi upon the Death Star.

Most bidding sites have these figures loose and in varying conditions for around £5 to start off with. Sites such as Amazon sell this figure and the prices especially from third party sellers get quite expensive. These figures are usually in a very good state but are often lacking any packaging.

3) Obi Wan Kenobi.

Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi.

This figure, was popular with the buyers of action figures, but due to him appearing less in the sequels; there is less variety to this figure than others. As a light sabre wielding figure, there is always a chance that the light sabre could be damaged or missing when sourcing this particular figure.

This figure is often included in bulk buys and it is often a good deal when you get a job lot offer. A reasonable price for an loose and good condition Obi Wan Kenobi is around £20-£30. Although there will be variations in price due to the seller's own valuations.

I will leave you with those to look through, whilst I go and hunt for that TIE Fighter that used to entertain me for hours on end.
